This place is rocking! It is a pub with an adjoining club that opens until 2am. This is the place everyone is. It is on many levels so there are a lot of stairs so you have to be that extra bit careful after a few.
On a Monday night it is bargain night. Pints are 70p! Shot of vodka? 80p. Certain weeknights mean certain clubs. Monday = Berties.
This is one of my regular weekend visits to my favourite club in Newquay, its varied music with its separated rooms and lively atmosphere is suited to everyone and is most probably in my experience one of the more popular clubs in Newqauy.
The Club - Layout Design and Style
The layout is classy and well designed with three rooms consisting of a main Dance/trance room being the biggest and most popular of the three, an RnB room and a dance/pop room. Around the three dance floors the clever design really starts to show with its cornered off seating areas each having its own bar where you can sit down talk and drink if you choose not to dance. The design and style provides clubbers with comfort and class but also at the same time space, which is important.
The RnB room is small compared to the rest of the club but provides huge leather sofas and a great style of music including some Hip Hop, great if you want to take a rest and chill out for a while. This room is also provided with its own bar for ease of use.
The new Dance/pop room is a very different style from the rest of the clubs rooms. It has a slightly 70's feel to it with its bright and colourful lights and huge red velvet sofas situated around the edge of the room below strangely shaped windows giving a view across into the main dance area. The toilets are very classy and clean, with mirrored walls and plenty of private cubicles, especially important if you've had one to many to drink and are feeling on the slightly queasy side!!
The only downsider of the design in Berties is the amount of steps, definitely not a positive aspect when your very drunk and cant focus let alone walk straight. The steps become more of an obstacle course in Berties so beware!
Atmosphere
The atmosphere all in all in Berties is mixed depending on each and every room you enter. In general its lively, full of young ''up for it'' people looking for a good but still fairly cheap night out with varied music to suit everybodys taste.
The Bouncers make you feel very welcome and are friendly but there is a fairly strict dress code in Berties which consists of no trainers, no t-shirts and men are not allowed on the podium or to take there shirts off.
Price
Before 10.30 its £4 and if you don’t have a card this same charge applies. During the summer months due to its popularity and occasionally very popular DJ's playing at Berties such as Dave Pierce, expect to pay without a membership card between £7 and £12.
You can purchase for free a 'Berties Members Privilege card' where if used after 10.30 you only have to pay £2 to get in, this applies for most of the year although in the summer months expect to pay more even if you still use the Membership card.
The price of drink is roughly the same as many other clubs although it may be slightly more expensive, but there are drink deals before 11.00pm which work out to be a good deal and end up saving you enough money to buy another drink. The only nights which tend to be cheaper, and this is fairly sexist admittedly, are for women only on Friday and Saturday nights that are dedicated to 'Ladies night' and they will receive cheaper entry. Expect to queue for 30minutes upward during the popular summer months.
Overall
A brilliant club with varied music and definitely one of the more popular places to be. It also has a great atmosphere with a wide range of music to suit everyone. Excellent and fairly cheap night out, definitely worth a try if you ever visit Newquay.
